Yesterday was a very nice day. I cut and sewed up the Folkwear Schoolmistress Skirt downstairs while watching multiple episodes of Deadwood. HBO is almost at the end of rebroadcasting this series and I'm totally caught up in it. Interestingly enough, while a day of it did not leave me mimicking the peculiar speech patterns, it did leave me somewhat insensitive to listening to foul language. I stopped noticing F-bombs, enjoyed the drama and made speedy progress on the skirt.

The fabric I used on the walking skirt--a boucle weave silk that looks like linen, but drapes like a dream. I couldn't be happier with it, though it did require finishing edges to stop fraying. It looks stunning with my late Victorian shirtwaist, so I am very pleased.  I still need to hem it, then I'll take photos.

Which leads to my crazy notion. I have a few small tasks ahead, but I am largely prepared for Costume College. I'm thinking of making a small jacket to match this skirt. Actually, the more I think of it, the less it seems crazy , since I can always finish it for SalonCon if I don't get it done by Thursday.
